Scientific publications

The findings of the basic research projects conducted by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities are published in a number of different formats. In the humanities and social studies, most publications are in the form of editions, directories, dictionaries and catalogues. In the natural sciences and technology/engineering, findings are usually published as series of measurements, studies and articles. The Academy’s members publish their work in papers and minutes of meetings. All digital publications are available as open access and in citable form on the Academy’s publications server.

All digital publications and digitalised versions of print publications can be found on the Academy’s publications server. Due to existing publishing contracts, there will be a delay of some years until the digital publication of certain works. The publications server also contains links to the publicly available databases of the research projects.

Some of the most frequently consulted publications are listed below:

New projects generally publish their findings in digital format, or digitally and in print. The Academy strives to ensure maximum reusability and makes the publications available free of charge. The Creative Commons license CC BY 4.0 is used in all but a few cases. All publications licensed in this way are expressly permitted to be downloaded, passed on, uploaded again to another location or incorporated partially or in modified form in other complete works. This permission is subject to correctly naming the author. In addition, no impression should be given that the Academy is responsible for or approves any particular re-use of its works.

Studies and meeting minutes

Academy members publish under two series: “studies” and “meeting minutes”. The studies have been published since 1763 in the form of monographs from all Sections. Minutes recording the proceedings of Section meetings have been published since 1860.
