Food for thought – thinking about healthy eating and the brain

Workshop

Healthy eating and its interrelation with brain function is an emerging topic both in basic as well as clinical research. But what constitutes a healthy diet and what do we really know about how it influences neuronal processing? This symposium brings together neuroscientists with diverse backgrounds to highlight recent advances in our understanding about the influences of the food we eat on our brain and vice versa. You will learn how brain circuits control our eating decisions and to what extent bacteria in the gut impact brain health. You will further hear how different nutrients are metabolized and used by brain cells, and how these nutrients affect brain function in health and disease.
