Am 21. und 22. Mai 2007 findet in der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften das diesjährige Symposium von DEISA, einem Verbund nationaler Supercomputer-Zentren in Europa, statt.

Das DEISA-Symposium 2007 wird vom Leibniz-Rechenzentrum der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und vom Rechenzentrum der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft organisiert. Die Veranstaltung widmet sich den Initiativen und Strategien auf europäischer und weltweiter Ebene, die das Höchstleistungsrechnen weiter verbreiten und besser zugänglich machen wollen. Der Bayerische Staatsminister für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Dr. Thomas Goppel wird das Symposium eröffnen.

DEISA (Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Applications) ist ein Konsortium führender nationaler Supercomputer-Zentren, das derzeit eine dauerhafte, verteilte Supercomputing-Infrastruktur im europäischen Rahmen aufstellt und betreibt. Diese wird von der Europäischen Union gefördert, soll die europäische Kompetenz im Höchstleistungsrechnen festigen und dadurch neue Entwicklungen in Wissenschaft und Technik ermöglichen.

This year, the DEISA Symposium focuses on the initiatives and strategies being deployed to enhance the outreach of high performance computing in Europe. The DEISA Symposium is traditionally held once a year during the spring. In previous years, the Symposium focused on the scientific and technological issues related to the operation of the DEISA infrastructure. For logistic reasons, participants are requested to register, but there will be no registration fee. The registration will close on May 7, 2007.

Timeframe of the meeting

The meeting will start on Monday, May 21 at 13:30 h and will end on Tuesday, May 22 at 12:30 h. A buffet lunch will be served on Monday before the Symposium program will start, and on Monday evening there will be a cocktail reception.
