Are you curious about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the way we do science? Whether you‘re an undergraduate, a PhD student or an early career researcher from any discipline, this event is for you. Join us for an insightful journey through the evolution of AI, its current applications, and what it actually means for computers and machines to be ‚intelligent‘. AI is often portrayed as a mysterious technology shrouded in complexity. Our aim is to demystify AI and show how it can enrich your research efforts. We will examine current applications such as machine vision and natural language processing, and provide insights into how AI can be applied to support your own research. To use AI tools effectively, it is important to understand how they were built and trained, and their inherent limitations. We will emphasise the importance of scrutinising AI tools for errors and biases, so that you can use these technologies responsibly and effectively in your research. Finally, we will explore real-world applications where AI has already proven its worth and how it can complement and enhance your scientific work. We invite you to engage with experts and try out selected AI applications including free online tools.
