SUMMARY:Exploring AI in Science. Past, Present and Everday.
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is chang
ing the way we do science? Whether you‘re an undergraduate, a PhD student o
r an early career researcher from any discipline, this event is for you. Jo
in us for an insightful journey through the evolution of AI, its current ap
plications, and what it actually means for computers and machines to be ‚in
telligent‘. AI is often portrayed as a mysterious technology shrouded in co
mplexity. Our aim is to demystify AI and show how it can enrich your resear
ch efforts. We will examine current applications such as machine vision and
natural language processing, and provide insights into how AI can be appli
ed to support your own research. To use AI tools effectively, it is importa
nt to understand how they were built and trained, and their inherent limita
tions. We will emphasise the importance of scrutinising AI tools for errors
and biases, so that you can use these technologies responsibly and effecti
vely in your research. Finally, we will explore real-world applications whe
re AI has already proven its worth and how it can complement and enhance yo
ur scientific work. We invite you to engage with experts and try out select
ed AI applications including free online tools.
